Lesya Kharchenko (b.1974) is a documentary filmmaker and journalist based in Kyiv, Ukraine. She is the founder of Dykhai Production and for over two decades has worked primarily in documentary filmmaking, collaborating with international broadcasters and platforms including ARTE, ORF, and 1+1. Her films explore war, memory, and human dignity. Recent credits include GENYA (82', 2025), Confronted by Evil: General Roméo Dallaire on the Ukrainian Frontline (32', 2025), At Last: Freedom (Looking Back at the Helsinki Accords) (18', 2021), and Jacob’s Ladder (52', 2014). She holds an MA in Philosophy from Kyiv National University, has translated and edited books on ethics, war, and memory, and received the Journalistenpreis Osteuropa (2003).
