AJ Schnack is an award-winning nonfiction filmmaker, writer and visual artist based in Los Angeles. His films include Kurt Cobain About a Son, Long Gone Summer, Speaking is Difficult Escalation, Caucus, We Always Lie to Strangers, Majority Rules and Gigantic (A Tale of Two Johns). He has been nominated for an Independent Spirit Award, and was the recipient of the IDA Award, the SXSW Film Festival Award for Best Director, the Creative Vision Award at AFI Silverdocs and at least one Webby. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and is the Founding Director of the Cinema Eye Honors.
